It just wasn't meant to be like 300 episodes long just like other shows like FLCL, Parinoia Agent, Gundam 8th team,and Pilot Candidate. If people really care for the series to be extended then they could write to the producers requesting more episodes like Big O or Family Guy when Fox saw that it was a big hit on Cartoon Network they started making more.
