Character class pronunciations - Noir - 11-04-2006 Kefka Wrote:ヒュ―マ― So in light of this, let's use Romaji. Hyu-ma- = Humar (Pronounced "he you"in English) Hyukyasuto = Hucast (He you) Hyukyashiiru = Hucaseal (he you) (think the romaji is right) Hanyueiru = Hunewearl (ha) WTF, doesn't sound like hu in hunter. Reima = Ramar (ray) Reimaru = Ramarl (ray) Rakyasuto = Racast Rakyashiiru = Racaseal Foma = Fomar (like, "fo sho homie"for all of them) Fomaru = Fomarl Fonyumu = Fonewm Fonyueiru = Fonewearl But considering this is katakana... that's an alphabet that takes foriegn words and bends the pronounciation to fit into Japanese as best as possible. I mean, those words don't really even exist in Japanese, so to say ST deiced how to say them is... only halfay true. They made the names... but with roots in the prnounciation of other languages, namely Englush. Which says HUnter, RAYnger and FOrce. Can't prove I'm right, but neither does this katakana chart prove anything. Character class pronunciations - Hrith - 12-04-2006 The "u" in bus, sun, hunter, cup, etc. is transcribed as ア カ サ タ ナ ハ マ ヤ ラ ワ ガ ザ ダ バ パ because that sound is closer to the Japanese "a" than to the Japanese "u". Hunter is spelled ハンター in Japanese, but should not be retranscribed "hanter" in English. Translators that have not studied phonetics make that mistake. Character class pronunciations - Mirinee - 12-04-2006 I agree. So we're all in agreement about Japanese -> English translation, yey. Noir, that's correct, except you used Kefka's list which his inputter messed up XD. And it's "fo-ma-". ![]() To conclude, it's レイキャスト <-- "REIKYASUTO". Pronounced "ray". pHear teh American accent bit at "cast".
Character class pronunciations - NoX - 12-04-2006 HUmar = HUmar (yes like a H and followed by you! uhh.. HYOU!?) HUnewearl = HU-ne-wearl HUcast = HU-cast (like in busted, the T) HUcaseal = HU-ca-seal RAmar = RA-mar (well simply rah) RAmarl = RA-marl (uh same as above but like the scientist in HL2 says Lamarr) RAcast = RA-cast (same as HUcast) RAcaseal = RA-ca-seal (same as HUcaseal) FOmar = Foe-mar FOmarl = Foe-marl (same as RAmarl) FOnewm = Foe-ne-wm (like in new) FOnewearl = Foe-ne-wearl (same as HUnewearl) well those are mine
Character class pronunciations - Rena - 12-04-2006 I don't really get all of this.I just give them names, and call them by those. Character class pronunciations - NoX - 12-04-2006 hmm what do you mean? like Cool-robotic-ranger (RAcast)? or do you mean you just say how you think it is pronounced and use it?
Character class pronunciations - jarl - 12-04-2006 and RAcaseal is what, uncool robotic ranger?
Character class pronunciations - Rena - 12-04-2006 Androids,Humans, and Newmans. Character class pronunciations - Blast112 - 13-04-2006 Does it really matter how you pronounce RAmar? I mean, it doesn't make an ounce of difference while you're actually playing the game, and everyone you know who plays it 'in the real world' will probably pronounce it the same as you do anyway. Besides, if you meet someone who does pronounce it differently you probably going to fully understand what they're saying anyway regardless of any small differences you may have. Character class pronunciations - Rena - 13-04-2006 Id doesn't matter to me that much, because if you play online, all you have is writing, not voices,so no matter how you pronunce them, they'll be written the same. |
