Because the gamecube does not allow burnt discs, and on top of that, minidiscs to burn data onto are pretty rare.

u CAN mod a gaycube so it will work with burned cds.... or not yet but reeaaal soon, gc is hard to hack

Real soon I am sure, seeing as to how there is still no way to do so, I wouldn't worry about it. Good that there is no piracy among the gamecube at least.
