The Right of Death - Kisanzi - 13-01-2005

I don't believe that people who mourn are weak, it's a natural reaction for the mind to lament upon the past. But rather than weak, you can use the word "dependent". Dependent in the fact that those who have lost and can't let go had a large dependency on being with the one they miss. While it is true that those who take their own life do not want others to mourn their passing, it's unfair to think that way when you know that you've let someone get close to you. Suicide in its entirety is wrong, whether it's justified or not, there are always more reasons to live then there are to die.

maybe, but what if you couldnt sleep at night do to something you did, would you rather suffer for the rest or your life letting it slowly drive you mad, or just grab a gun and shoot yourself in the head? you should be able to take your life and if you kill yourself over something dumb then you kinda deserve it

lol, well, its not so much dependency as the fact that you lose a parent at a younger age and the fact you sit down to dinner with 1 seat empty Wink. To tell you the truth, I don't really talk or think about it so this is a rare time that I actually express it Wink. I tend to forget these kinds of things and move on but may mind still has the experience stored so its always with me Wink.

Gotien Wrote:People are weak... too attached to those around them. Death is a part of life, if it drags you down, you are flawed beyond repair. Live your life, no one that ever dies wants others to suffer for them; physically or emotionally.
Its true that no one ever wnats there loved ones to suffer, and death isn't as morbid as poeple think. i see death as enlightenment, a chance to view ur life as otherrs have. And i recently found out that Orgen is the only state that allows sucide under certian conditions: 1. You have less than 6 months to live
2. You have requsted medication so many times ur dependent now on it.
3. Your doctor basicly says ur a watse of time and life.
Then u get ethier lethall injection or taken off life support.

The Right of Death - Gotien - 13-01-2005

I have no problem with life support or what not. But if I heard the doctor say, "He'll make a full recovery... but we had to amputate his legs." I am pulling the plug right then. The day I can't fight for myself, the day I can't protect others around me, that is the day I fail to take another breath.

I completely agree with Gotien.

Another thing have any of you ever heard of the Buddhist philosophy. It states that the ultimate enlightenment is to be completely detached so that you may better judge the situation. It seems as if a lot of people here have some personal connection to this subject so I will refrain from commenting further other than stating once again that ...

I completely agree with Gotien.

If people don't belong to a religion, it shouldn't affect them. Wink

You should have a right to suicide, although only after counciling, and being made aware of the consequences.

Thats seems very logical. Although, not everyone cares about the consequences, and counciling doesn't always work. I still don't agree though that people should have the right to committe suicide. If you happen to be only about 28 and you kill yourself, you still have a long life left to live, and in that time you'll probably end up finding somewhat that you'd want to spend the rest of your life with, but if your dead, well.......then that can't happen.

The Right of Death - Teh EkwEE - 13-01-2005

If there was a job such as being able to end peoples suffering I'd apply for it. Although it may sound morbid I agree with Gotien completely. People who commit suicide because a t.v. show went off the air deserve to die. Those types of obsessive compulsive genes are passed down through the next generation and breed rapist, serial murderers, pedophiles, ect. ect. Those who are in a terrible state and are suffering deserve to die, they don't deserve to suffer. What it all comes down to is your morales, while I hate humans and can look at the most gruesome murder photos, ect. (and my stepdad is a cop so I've seen a few gruesome ones) I don't like to see anything suffer.Wink

And often times there is a light at the end of the rainbow. A few years ago my dad tried to commit "suicide" but in actual fact all he did was take a piece of glass and he scratched his arms up real bad. But now he's slowly getting out of debt, getting his life in order, ect. Big Grin

So sometimes all you need is to fake suicide to get into a government program that'll give you 5,000 $ to go to heavy equipment operating school and you can get a good job so you don't try suicide again.Wink
