I don't see, at all, how these topics are even remotely similar. You were speaking of Internet slang and annoying abbreviations, whereas I am talking about grammar and the incorrect use of it.

now WHY do I need to learn more grammar?

I was one of the best spellers at my school, my English teachers never got onto me for improper speech, and my parents always ask 'me' for spellings on certain words.
