I like them both equally.
Ep1 is classic, the levels are great and you can bask in the hack and slash simplicity of it all.
However, I my view of Ep2 is fractured:
I love the level design. It is so much more difficult to navigate Ep2 dungeons than the Ep1 dungeons. The increased difficulty reminds me so much of Phantasy Star II's dungeons.
I love the storyline. It fits in well with Ep1 and adds to it greatly.
I love the final boss fight, although it is not as legendary as the Falz fight.
I dislike the Gal Gryphon because its attack loop barely varies. Fly, shoot tornadoes, land, stomp, fly...
I do, however, despise the fact that the first two levels do nothing to advance the plotline, although I still like the levels themselves.
I prefer to play Ep2, although I play Ep1 more.

I get most of what your saying forge and I agree with some of it but how can you not like gal griffen. When you fight him the graphics and him alone have amazing visuals.

The gal griffon is great, by the looks of it BB has a normal enemy or at least a mini boss based around him

I think episode two is kool, i dont really have a favorite i like to switch between episode 1 and 2, i must say i love the fight on the clifftop with the rain that is really kool, and when olga is fallin when your on the elevator thats kool too but the dragon on ep 1 when you first star off is quite daunting lol (easy tho) and i hate the last boss i think it look stupid lol,the only thing i hate about ep2 is the pain in the arse test/trial things they really get on my nerves lol.

I agree with you Forge on the whole not advancing the storyline thing for the VR levels, but I love the CCA and it's boss so much that it makes up for it. The only thing I hate about the game in general besides the lack of things in Ep2 is that Dragon, Sil Dragon, Gol Dragon, and Gal Gryphon are basically the same. It is the same with Del Rol Le, Dal Ral Li, and Barba Ray. Well I think that the spaceship is enjoyable.

Dont forget, ep. 2 has control tower, Epsilon, ill gills, del lillies and the two variants on the giant plant plus mini bosses as regular enemies, its so fun!

Sure, the Gal Gryphon fight looks amazing, but I find the attack style a bit repetitive. Because he fights so similarly to the Dragon, I expect him to change his attack style when you've damaged him enough.
I also don't really like the music that much for that fight.
I much preferred the Jungle -A Forest Cage- theme.

Also, Anti Hacker, I can't get online at the moment to fight those enemies.
