At any level 50+ that ends in 0 or 5, have the mag's stats with POW>DEX>MIND (i.e. 5/43/30/17, total of 95, and 43>30>17) and then have a Force Greenill/Bluefull/Purplenum/Oran or Whitill feed the mag. It will evolve into Marica, but if any one else who isn't a FO of those ID's feeds the mag on a level ending in 5 or 0, or if POW>DEX>MIND in not true, then the mag will change to something else.
You really ought to go for a special mag on all mags except the ones with one really high stat (i.e. 185 MIND, 185 POW). They do their specials more often and they're just cooler.

i like the small mags because i don't have small mags (robochao is bigger then mag or varuna)
