Just finished redoing everything so I can find rares again. You must get the mag out of your xbox entirely, not just bank it. Also get rid of any photon crystals (spheres are OK since they are currently in the game). Those alone weren't enough, so I did the same with my unsealed J-swords, all weapons with 127%ages, and my red ring. Also went through all 24 characters (took some time) and made sure that none of them were stacking either. It may not be necessary to do all of that but the mags and crystals weren't enough. This is the second time that I've moved these items to my other xbox, and both times the rares started flowing again.
BTW, you can still find rares if you go into games started by legit characters.
I'd seriously consider this if the Halo Rappies come out in a week or two. The items they drop are definately worth it.

Thanks but, I fixed my problem yesterday. All I did was move the hacked mag to another char, and power the xbox off and back on. After doing this as soon as I hit ULT forest 2, I found a red box.
Also, reading a post on GFaqs regarding this "issue", it say's you can bank it. As long as you power your xbox off AFTER banking. When you turn it on (your xbox) you should be good.
Just thought I would share how I got my groove back.

That's a whole lot less work than I did. I'll have to try it out on the old xbox (nothig left on the newer one).

Seems theres more proof of hacked mags affecting drop rates (but seemingly only on XBOX version as i have said elsewhere)
Maybe only certain hacked mags affect drop chances? Eg current version of hacked Sato does but hacked Kama (who the hell would hack kama?) dosent?

I doubt it, if they were gonna affect the drop rates with hacked mags, they'd probably do it with all of them...

If you mean ST by they, they wouldnt have a choice in the matter. They didnt "Make" hacked mags affect drop chances (if they do) its down to poor hacking on the hackers part.
