I prefer depressive rock, i.e. The Eels, and that would account for anyone arguing that Rap has smarter lyrics.

Rock/Rap? - Ivan - 02-01-2005

Most rock is depressive Tongue

No one can be subjected to one type of music, if they are, then they don't understand the meaning of music, and understand songs

All music is good, aslong as it has meaning

( i can't really explain what I am trying say in the first bit)

Hmm. Well, since Green Day are my favourite band, I'll just say some stuff about American Idiot. (Im not sure if its all true, just what I read in an interview)
American Idiot wasnt actually meant to be in a kinda weird way. Its the only thing I thank theives for in the USA. You see, the master tapes for the follow up to 'Warning' were stolen, and so, they had to start again on a new album. And, after some mucking around, and watching TV, they wrote a political piece (American Idiot). Also, Mike Dirnt (Bassist) was early to band practice, wrote a 30 second song, Billie Joe and Tre wanted to do something like that, they put their stuff together, made a strange punk-opera piece (Homecoming/Jesus Of Suburbia).
I dont think its over rated, simply because they dared to do something no other band was prepared to do. Apparently, this was a very crucial decision as to whether Green Day would still be together. (Not sure about that bit there).

By the way, I agree with whoever said that anyone could speak over a backing track...very nicely put. Wink
