A notice, darlings. - Reigast - 07-01-2007

Fellow Xbox 360 players.

Today was a dark day in history.

For my copy of PSU broke.

A tiny hair fissure, across the center of the Disc. That spreads about a centimetre into the data section.

So you wont see me until tuesday.

=[

You should totally give it a funeral, or give it to your worst enemy as a present or something.

If the 'hair fissure' is just a scratch you can get hold of some 'Wipeout' fluid or equivalent (it's an abrasive polishing compound used for removing scratches on CDs) and remove it, your local indie game store might have something in stock that works just as well.

If the 'hair fissure' is actually a crack, my question would be: How did it happen? Just curious.

A notice, darlings. - Reigast - 08-01-2007

It's a crack, i flexed the disc (without stressing it.)

The only way I can think of it's happened, is that my xbox has been jolted while moving, or because it was from the first print run of the game, it's been put on a bit of a dodgy disc. =/

The former is probably what happened.

New copy arrives 9am tommorrow. =D

Along with my keyboard.

And FantasyMeister, Grammar salutes you. =D

Here's something amazing. Exactly the same crack has now appeared in my XBox 360 copy of PSU. It appeared during gameplay, as I recieved a "This disc is unreadable, please clean it with a soft cloth" message on a system blade just after the screen went blank. So cloth in hand I removed the disc to clean it et voila! A small crack right across the centre of the disc either side of the central hole.

There was no earthquake, stray cat or sledgehammer in sight that could have moved the console whilst the disc was in it, so I figure faulty disc press. Then I remembered this post and thinking at the time "Surely this could never happen to me?" so I thought I'd update it a little Smile

Luckily it's still under 90 day warranty so I'm off to my retailer now to see if I can nab a replacement, even though I lost the receipt a long time ago.

Edit: Update - it's no go without a receipt and my local indie doesn't have a copy in stock anyhow. Gawd Bless Amazon! Should be here by 1pm tomorrow. Hmm, meantime... Gears of War or Dead Rising or Far Cry Instincts... hmmm...
