anybody seen the commercial about the scientists that want to get on mars? - pso king - 05-12-2007

one word. IDIOTS. there is no possible way we are ever going to get on mars. yet they actually want to create a second world. not only is that Playing God (for the believers besides me out there) but it's scientifically impossible. first of all we'd need to transport all of the freshwater on the planet we'd also need there to be enough oxygen. there'd also have to be a magnetic field and an ozone layer. then we'd need to get plants and animals there. or just plants. either way. if anybody can still see some way we'd be able to get a colony on mars please share it with everyone. Maybe within a couple thousand years. (if the human race is still around at that time) I think we shouldn't be trying to think of way to find a replacement we should be fixing the current one.

if you mean the god mars then yes mars is a lie. otherwise you are just acting like a person trying to be mental. also the commercial was on discovery channel so if you don't get that station you probably have absolutely no Idea what I am talking about. or if you only have public access.

You're a complete retard. Nobody ever thought we could get on the moon, yet we did. Technology is advancing in leaps and bounds, I'm sure it won't be an overly long time before manned ships are sent to other planets.

There are hundreds of millions (probably billions) of other galaxies out there, each with their own quota of stars and planets. Do you really think that not a single one of those planets is habitable? It's only a matter of time before the next big scientific revelation comes around. Possibly FTL travel. I sound stupid but hey, anything could happen.

Check this out. You should realize how important this is.
I know nomercy will appreciate the significance of this video, if he hasn't seen it already. Tongue

Simply breath-taking is the first thing that comes to mind when watching that video. Life on Mars is certainly possible, but life in the Ultra-Deep Field? I'd say no question, yes.

humans can live in space or the moon as long the enviroment has the right conditions.
machines or non living things can survive in mars, therefore machines, domes.....would be created and humans could live there.
it may take time, but we will acheive it

It will take a very long time. After all, there were thousands of people who believed by the year 2000 we'd all have holiday homes on the moon and jet off for weekends there. We don't got it, and we won't for a hell of a long time.

i agree, PSOKing you are being a total tard. We are not trying to play God, we realise that our population is going WAY up, space is an issue, as are resources. Mars is the planet most likely to be able to sustain us, there is frozen water, and an atmosphere CAN be created (our atmosphere was created by tiny organisms over millions of years however)
and i agree with nomercy, technology is growing faster than ever, either you live with it and adapt, or go become amish
Like my biology teacher says: adapt, migrate, or die

I'm going to pull out my debating skills for this.
Quote:one word. IDIOTS. there is no possible way we are ever going to get on mars.
That was said about the moon. Lookie, we made it.
Quote:yet they actually want to create a second world.
Well this one isn't doing so good, unless you're blind to pollution, global warming, destruction of raiforests, etc.
Quote:not only is that Playing God (for the believers besides me out there)
Lol. Humanity is advancing, we don't need guidance for a so-called supreme being. We never did. We have conciousness for a reason; so we can make our own choices.
Quote:but it's scientifically impossible. first of all we'd need to transport all of the freshwater on the planet we'd also need there to be enough oxygen.
Polar ice caps are melting, causing rising sea levels here on earth. They could quite easily take those ice cubes up and do it that way.
Quote:there'd also have to be a magnetic field and an ozone layer. then we'd need to get plants and animals there. or just plants.
We got people up on the moon, we got robots onto Mars, we can do that. Hell, your own damned religion has some old pat who apparently built a giant boat and put two of every single type of animal that existed on it.Tongue This is an undefeatable point by you, due to defeating it meaning you'd need to partially renounce your faith.
Quote:either way. if anybody can still see some way we'd be able to get a colony on mars please share it with everyone.
Quite easy, in my view. Think of it this way; technology is advancing in leaps and bounds. We can make robots and artificial intelligence which is able to rival the human mind. We are also able to create many things. Put these together in some form and I'm sure we'll be able to find a way to create a machine which can make Ozone, oxygen, etc.
Quote:Maybe within a couple thousand years. (if the human race is still around at that time)
That's quite a narcissistic statement. And also extremely defeatist. We've been around for a hell of a long time already, I doubt we'll expire that quickly.
Quote:I think we shouldn't be trying to think of way to find a replacement we should be fixing the current one.
It's not always possible to fix what's broken.
