I don't know if this belongs in here or if you guys will think I'm an idiot for asking this but do you need to have a credit card in order to download blue burst? also do you have to play with a group on blue burst or can you play solo? and last but not least how many characters are you able to have?

You don't need to pay up for anything, you an download the game for free.
The game is server sided, it keeps your data saved on a server so you need one to play, a good server option is Schthack, so you can't play offline, but you can play online alone simply by selection one player mode on the game creation at the lobby.
You can have 4 char per account.

okay thanks. i think 4 char per account is kind of lame though since on the xbox version you can have 11 per gamertag and there's room for 4 slots of eleven which you can use the same gamertag each time. also why is schtack better than others?

There are plenty of homemade servers, but they use a buggy software and many details in the game don't work.
Then you have schthack, it has a more stable software, some stuff may not work but it is only a few, the majority of the players play here so if you want a community to play with i would recomend this one.
There is also the jp pso bb server, it has lot's and lot's of japanese players, this is probably the best free bug server around, but unless you can comunicate with japanese players you will have some trouble, especially because the events for example are all explained on the site in japanese.
schthack has in my opinion a low quality community, but if you find the right ppl you will enjoy the server alot.

Is BB still even downloadable from Sega? I would have thought that they had taken it down by now...

Yep i can't download from sega pso bb site, it looks like you need to either go to schthack and download the install they have there or find another alternative download link.

I managed to get PSO:BB downloaded from a link at Scthack yesterday, just installed it this morning, getting online and whatnot was easy. Now just need to find some people to play with haha.
