Somebody familiarized with Danmaku games? - REIA - 06-02-2009
Danmaku (Bullet Hell in japanese) is a Shmup (Shoot them up) game genre only in japan. Unlike normal Shmups it focus on shooting hundreds of bullet spam on screen and cannot be dodged without having a good time training your skills to fight those stuff. There are plenty of Danmaku games (most of them are only friendly with Linux) but at moment Im just playing Tohou games that are a Danmaku genre and a really hard arcade emulated japanese game called Mushihimesama (and it sequel Futari). Anyone around here does play danmaku games, heard of them or are interested to try?

Sounds crazy. Do you mean like..An arcade shooter? (Time crisis, or that other cool one) or like..Flying a cute little spaceship while avoiding millions of enemies?

Nope, Shmups or Shmoops are known as games as 1942, etc. Try looking videos of those two games I mentioned if you wanna learn what is a danmaku game. And tell me if you would try.

Pretty good, for Tohou you can't run in Windows except Tohou 8 and over, you'll need linux to play the earlier games, and about the other you can get it via arcade emulator.

It's okay if you dont wanna lose windows, but be careful that kind of emulation can provoke some ugly glitches to the game.

Meh, i think i can boot up linux on the laptop so that should be fine. Are the games all free then?

Sadly no, althou Tohou isn't a commertial aimed game, it's being sold in CDs each title, but you can (illegally) download them, if you are pretty wise you can find your ways. Mushihimesama and futari can only be got via ROM and Emulator.
