NOL of the modern days (schthack incident) - K_I_R_E_E_K - 22-04-2010

As you may know, back in the days of PSO ver.1 and ver.2 some ppl got NOLed, this is a transformation that happens on your char, it replaces your current char for another one called NOL, as you may guess this is the lvl 5 (normal difficulty) hunewearl that exists in a quest so obviously ppl didn't want that.

Those days are gone now, but recently something similar is happening on schthack private server, someone is aparently disconnecting "random" chars and transforming them into other chars on the account.
While schthack server doesn't support restorations this is definitely an exeption and affected accounts are beeing restored to the 1st of february, meaning some work will be lost.
At the moment they are trying to take care of the problem, but there isn't a permanent solution to it so be carefull while you are in the lobby.

Chars are beeing transformed into a char named Neo478 (no, Neo478 is not the blame) and a ramarl named Dark Gaia, if you get disconected for no reason and your real chars are gone then contact the schthack staff, give account information and maybe a rollback will be given.

Either wait until this is over/fixed or play knowing that there are conssequences

EDIT: Rollback has been updated to 21th of April.

EDIT: One theory sugests that the hacker somehow got access to account information on the forums by reading your username and password, since some ppl use the same username and the same password in the game then that may be the reason why chars were recreated.
The staff is recomending ppl to change passwords on the forums if they are the same used ingame.
This is not confirmed.

I honestly hate this kind of hacking, it's just plain harmfull hacking as many inocent players are beeing affected.

Aww that sucks! I heard about that nol thing happen back in the day, but never saw it since i never play it on the dreamcast. I didn't know this was happening on schthack! I'm glad you told us Kireek!

Hmm i don't know if i want to play psobb now. I don't want to lose all my hard work because of some evil hacker! I think i'll play it safe and use my other account. Since he low level and have no rares.
Why do the hackers do that? I mean this a old game, why would they stick around and do this? Or maybe its some new hacker dude. Still this pretty much sucks.

Maybe it's revenge, but no matter the reason, many ppl are beeing affected left and right.
Registration and logging on the server may not be avaiable sometimes.

I hope they fix this soon, I bet lots of people not playing that much anymore. Now that i think about it....Their been fewer player online lately. I use to see 270 players on skyline, but now i see like 170 players or around that. Do you know how long this been going on Kireek?

Oh and do you think this can happen on the gamecube verison? If i can't play psobb i'll just play the gamecube one, but I can only go online this weekend.

NOL of the modern days (schthack incident) - K_I_R_E_E_K - 22-04-2010

Yes, fewer players have been playing recently due to that.
I have seen that the problem or atleast the hacker started to hack a long time ago, but this has nothing to do with hacking items and so i think it has been like this for less then 2 days, this is something very recent and caught the staff unprepared.

With GC they don't know and the reason is simple, they don't know how this exploit works, most likely GC players are free from harm (since the code targets accounts and GC players don't have accounts) but GC players should have caution.

There is an update.

Yeah, tell me when this is over too. I don't want to lose my character.

I finally convinced my parents that the game won't affect our computer so I'll be able to play.Big Grin

until then however, I'll just stay on Gamecube. (making a new character today.)
