Is there anyway to stop the view from disappearing when you walk up to a locked door and are fighting of the enemies?

No. But you shouldn't be standing with your back to the door hehehe
. You can always face the door, tap L (or R) and shift the camera to the centre of the room. You can then fight towards the camera

thanks for the hint, i've gone all the way to the mines in ultimate mode with out nowing this, sadly i've died alot because of this.
