Resident Evil 4 - Lee-yoshi - 20-02-2004

Unfortunately all Zombie-slaughtering fans will have to wait until 2005 till we see a brand spanking new Capcom Exclusive titled "Resident Evil 4" on our European shelves! But while you wait, here's some news that'll make you start to drool, oh and did i mention an early screenshot......ew wipe that up, you have to see it first!

A few-ish nice little facts about the game:
  • The end of the doors that slowly creak open and shut when entering a different room is here....R.I.P.
  • An energy bar now appears on the main screen...i'm no big Resi fan, but i don't remember that being there before!
  • Leon's the main man in this title, with characters from previous games re-appearing....an all star cast!
  • The game can now be played in different perspectives of your choosings, 1st person, or 3rd person (Multiple)...the choice is yours!
  • For some reason, Capcom have made Resident Evil 4, more of a film, then a game. Saying this, the game will only be playable in Widescreen mode, which means if you don't have a widescreen TV then you'll have to put up with playing the game in Letterbox Format (The one with the black bars above and below the screen constantly!)
  • Some of the controls will differ, some will remain the same. For example, shooting will stay the same. Hold 'R' to Aim, and 'A' to Shoot!
  • There's also going to be a new 'Action' button incorporated into the game. Pressing this button at EXACTLY the right moment will no doubtedly perform some kind of breath-taking move, such as diving outta the way, climbing out of a window, or just whacking a bad guy around the head!
  • The Resident Evil usual's don't appear in the game. It spies the end of the Umbrella Corporation (We all know and love!), and the zombies will be of different looks!
  • There's a lot of new and nasty traps Leon can get man-handled in!
  • Enemies now have their own 'Hit-Zones' such as shooting a bad guy in the arm....owwey!
  • Leon can now do whatever he wants by the looks of things, using binoculars, sniper rifles, hand grenades, or if he feels like an outting, hit the lakes in a boat!
  • Villagers can now also attack, using anything they can get their hands on, including spades, shovels, axes...or chainsaws!! Uh Oh!
  • AI has been improved - Enemies now attacking with more intelligence before!

Sounds good ey! 2005 though, hmmm.....*sigh*

Now lets have a screenshot!

Resident Evil 4 - Lee-yoshi - 21-02-2004

lol, how could you guess i was a Ninty fan! And yes, i am aware that Super Mario Sunshines development had something to do with the design of the controller, not just that title though, Luigi's Mansion, and Mario 128 most probabily also contributed...

Let's not change the subject though...

Resident Evil has had 4 other games on the Gamecube that are currently released (With Resident Evil: Code Veronica X out soon) and Capcom have obviously recognised the needs of the controller, and have re-arranged some of the buttons functions to perfect gameplay just in time for Resident Evil 4.
