Windows - Jay - 21-10-2004 My friend keeps telling me to put windows 98 on my computer and take of windows xp do u think i should. Windows - mimas - 21-10-2004 Ehh, I'm on Windows ME. Windows 98 isn't great IMO, and XP is too complicated when it doesn't need to be... Windows - T_T1K - 21-10-2004 xp will make your games run faster it looks nicer too and its easier to setup networks on. more robust too, especially compared to 98 with its DOS heritage..

Windows - Mirinee - 21-10-2004 Oops, I voted Windows 98 before I read your post properly. If your computer supports XP, then don't downgrade. After much tweaking/customising, XP gets a lot better than Windows 98, and it's also better than ME by a long shot in terms of game compatibility. Windows - Sheik - 21-10-2004 Windows XP is so much better than 98, it has so much better hardware support and much better software drivers. Without it my 64MB Nvidia FXGo5200 graphics card probably wouldn't support DirectX 9.0C. Windows - psychoticdemon - 22-10-2004 mine little OS guide (who'd ever thought operating systems classes would be any use) 98: works on most stuff, Pentium and 16 MB - 32MB ram will run it ME: donât touch it, even better beat the users with a stick uninstall it and install XP, its a very bugged up version and not many ppl will touch it XP: takes a lot to get going compared to 98 (higher speed cpu, higher memory, higher disk space needed) but works a lot better and dos it still there with XP its just not as easy to get to (can w/ a boot disk) XP pro is better than home but costs more, then again not a lot of people actually pay for windows anyway with its ridiculous price tag XP beats 98 hands down unless running on a low spec system, then it just wont work Windows - DevilFyre - 22-10-2004 Windows 2000 is the way to go... I have XP on one PC, 2000 on a another, 98 on another, XP on a laptop, and 2000 on a laptop and the 2000 PC/laptop run the best... XP is full of bloatware.. it's basically 2000, but for some reason it requires 300 MHz of the processor as opposed to 133 MHz of 2000... Stay with XP. XP has better shortcuts, it is faster, better looking and overall, far superior to any other Microsoft operating system. Don't even consider changing back to 98. Very few prgrams (including games) are being supported by Win 95, and soon, games won't support 98 either. |
