Best fantasy book series - Teh EkwEE - 16-11-2004

Talk about your favorite fantasy collection. Why is it your favorite, ect. ect.

Hands down its the Wheel of Time series for me. Though I haven't read many fantasy books this series has few rivals and even fewer equals,if any.I think one thing books HAVE to do is make you care about the characters, show how they change and evolve over time and give you a look at their soul. As for caring about the characters goes I actually cried, :S yes cried :S when Perrin's family got slaughtered in the fourth book The Shadow Rising. So you rate in with your favorites and why.

You cant beat a good Discworld novel. I just finished reading the new book 'going postal' and it was really good. Terry's back on top form Tongue

Death is so funny. I like it when he just 'visits' Rincewind. Rincewind asks why he's there if he's not going to die, and Death just says he's just being friendly/visiting. haha Big Grin

It's the Lord of the Rings for me! I liked the story so much, I read all Tolkien's LOTR related stuff I could find (which took me more than 6 months to finish, but I was little back then :p) and, well, let's say I got obsessed.

I love the Wheel of Time too! How far have you gotten in the series, Teh EkwEE? I was introduced to it by a friend who was so loyal to Jordan he didn't even admit to the fact that... Okay, I won't comment because I haven't read past book 1, but I have been warned that the story's pace slows down dramatically in the later books and the author introduces too many characters.

The story isn't complete yet, is it? I wonder if you can convince me to read the whole series. Big Grin

Yeah, you should definitly finish them. Jordan's already finished the10th which ends the series, currently I'm on Lord of Chaos which is the 6th I think. Jordan just released The New Spring about three months ago. It's the prequel to book one. But the books only get richer as they go. He doesn't introduce many new characters, or characters that will play a major role anyway. Quite a few love interests develop also.

Terry Prachet or whatever their name is writes comidic fantasy right? A girl at school recommended a bunch of those books.
