i was reading about them in the characetr data base and it says Megid penetrates i was wondering what that meant please explain

It means that it can do what barta does (in the way that it hits many monsters with one cast).
With non-FOnewearls, megid will stop after it hits one monster.
Unless you're playing the old Version 2, in which case, all the non-androids can have penetrating megid. :S

yes, this would have fit the best in the Force area of the forums, perhaps a mod will move it there? At any rate, it has been explained, but penetrating is when a single cast of a technique can hit several different enemies at once.
