PSO class namings - Mirinee - 02-12-2004 Although I've noticed a pattern to the meanings of the class suffixes ('M' for humans :S , 'C' for androids :S , 'N' for newmans , female if it ends in 'L'), the only one that's obvious in its meaning is '-newm'.And also, why are hunters (HU-), rangers and forces collectively known as "Hunters"? Please post if you think the answer isn't "Because it just is". P.S. I've not played Phantasy Star. Were these classes already established back then? PSO class namings - Grave_Guardian - 02-12-2004 Thats a good ?. I'd say all class are called Hunters beacuse they are trying to hunt all the evil in the game :S . I don't know as always :'( oh well. Does anyone one else want to guess? PSO class namings - Sesshomaru - 02-12-2004 Grave_Guardian Wrote:Thats a good ?. Does anyone one else want to guess?not to be completely rude......but the hunters are looking (hunting) for information as to what happened to Pioneer 1. And to what happened to Red Ring Rico. The term "Hunters" is probably used to describe all of the races collectively as a group. Not just as HU- RA- FO- Thats my guess, anyone else gonna give it a shot. A hunter is a freelance adventurer, slayer, bounty hunter, treasure seeker ect. all wrapped up in one. And there hunters who excel in different kinds of combat, close range (hunter), distanced (ranger) and magical (force.) That is what I think at least. ^_^ Mirinee, I have played the original, and there were no classes whatsoever. You had four charas, and each one had its own skill types. The charas were kind of simaler to the classes of PSO. Alis The heroine. Equips a sword. Guess she is like a hunter with some healing power. Mieu A cute lil' kitty fox spirit hybrid. He/she is a healer. Odin This guy is like a Ramar. He equips guns. No magic. Like a racast then. Noah A force through and through. He looks like a fomar. You met people with professions in PS2. There was a guy called Rudo who was classified as a hunter, but was just like Odin. Loads of attack power, guns and no techs. Nei was the original HUnewearl!!! She rox! PSO class namings - Mirinee - 03-12-2004 What about the -mar/marl/cast/caseal/newearl? How were those derived? PSO class namings - Schoichet - 05-12-2004 in the early phantasy stars there was a hunter's guild, what the members did was fight off monsters and the like from villages. inside that the hunter forces and rangers where not a part of it, but some of them where like that... i think the classes are just so it makes an ok online game, rather then haveing evryone exactly the same job. the names... i think are also becouse they did not have createve names for each one FO-force HU-hunter RA-ranger females end with l, andraoids have cas in there name, you allredy said newm, and humens have mar. PSO class namings - cOoLdUdE - 05-12-2004 Who cares, just know all 12 names and u win!
PSO class namings - Zeank Aiya - 05-12-2004 i don't no much english, but if someone tells me something about a hunter, then i won't understand that it's someone who attacks short disstance, i will think of someone who... hunts... something, ranger... well, i didn't no the word u no and force sounds to me like power the -mar i think it's cuz it wouldn't sound well a HUhuma or just HUhum, so the cut the hu from human PSO class namings - Schoichet - 05-12-2004 the hunters are most likely a rough translation from phantasy star 2 (i dont think there where any in 1) that was adoped for the rest of them. a ranger is a populer MMORPG name for someone who uses ranged weapons... force... im guessing starwars insperation but it might also have to do with forces of nature and the like. as for the mar... in algol(sorry if i spelled it wrong), what are the humens called? i forgot but if one of the planets had mar in it then it might have something to do with that. "Who cares, just know all 12 names and u win!" umm... win what? |
