A trick to find items - Zeank Aiya - 03-12-2004

I won't chek if anybody has posted about this trick, so i just post...

In the school we're learning about probabilities (or wathever it is in english), and i thought about something which worked

If you stay long time in a stage without returning to the Pioneer, u'll have more chances of gettin rare items, well... it's not really the time you stay, but how many creatures you kill, that's because as you get normal items the chances of getting rare ones grow. But the best is to finish, killing boss and everything without returning, cuz then it's almost sure that the boss droops a rare item (at least in ult). That's how i got the stupid final impact from Sil Dragon, the stupid gae bolg from Dal Ra Lie, and a handy Ruby Bullet from Vol Opt ver.2

I hope it also works for you guys!!! Wink

Er... I don't really think so. :ermm: That's not how it's worked for me.

The theory I follow was originally suggested to me by a friend who has many characters - "lucky days" based on your section ID. He told me this when I mentioned my four Twin Psychoguns dropped to me by Love Rappies on a single day. His theory was that they followed the number of the day - like, 4 would be purplenum's day or something. I don't think the number of the day has anything to do with it, but I do firmly believe that your chances increase considerably on certain days. You know, those days when you find things in boxes you don't normally find? Like good units, or the occasional Varista, DB's Saber or [insertcommonweaponhere] in a box? About 75% of these days, I always find more rares with that character on that day. This doesn't seem to apply to boss drops, though... go figure. Tongue

I, personally, highly doubt so-called "lucky days" are based on Section ID. Good theory anyways, Zeank Aiya.

Thx!!! Big Grin (call me just Zeank [...])
I also think the section ID has something to do with the item finding, cuz a frien has got a hucaseal named Cloe who finds rare items every 10 minutes (it's not exactly this way u no, but it's like that). As you should no, depending on your name, there's something like a limit of items you can find, acording to this, if your name is just "0" your limit is about 300 itemas, if your name is "ZZZZZZZZZZZ" or whatever the limit of characters of the name, your limit is about 1500 items, and with Cloe, he should find only about 400-500. Also my Racast (it's not mine, but it's in my memory card) has a finding power he's a Whitill named Black Hacker, and he finds rare items from every strong enemy, well not, but almost only strong enemys droop him rare items. When i played with him in Vhard, we found an Inferno Bazooka from a Dark Bringer, i dunno the chances of getting one from him, but they're certainly not many, we also found a diska of liberator and a slicer of assasin from So Dimenian (if i'm not misstaken), and he also got a slicer of assasin from a chaos sorcerer in hard. Anyway... with this i mean that i belive that depending on the name of the character, no only the ID changes, but also your "Luck"

Well, it influences WHAT weapons you find, which slightly changes the odds... but I mean, most days you don't find anything at all, and then one or two days you'll find ten rares on a single day you weren't even looking for. Maybe the ID doesn't influence it, but something does.

*waits for someone to brign up beat times...*
I just call it luck of the draw to be honest...

A trick to find items - Zeank Aiya - 04-12-2004

Sry, what does that of "Bring up beat times" mean?

A trick to find items - decswxaqz - 04-12-2004

He means that what time you play affects drops/rare monsters.
The die hard PSO (or should that say most well informed/experienced ^_^Wink say that beat time affects nothing.
Personally, I say that each ID has a certain beat time that makes rare monsters appear more. Nothing to do with drop, but the actual monsters. In this case, if you get 3 rappies at one time for example, and 2 drop their rare, it looks like beat time affects drop rates. But in fact, it's just affecting their appearance and you've been lucky enough to get their rares.
And until someone posts the actual game code that calculates what drops from a monster, or rare monster appearance, I'll still think that. Yes I know barb says that each time a map is generated a random seed value is created and this is what determines what monster combination you get. It doesn't exclude that fact beat time or ID might affect it.

Beat times...its an time counter of the PSO world I think. Its hard to explain, but anyway there were rumours going around that the beat time (Press Start, and look in bottom right hand corner of screen to see beta time) affected item drops.

EDIT: Hey Decs! You posted your post just before mine! And it had the same info in it!!

A trick to find items - NetNomad - 04-12-2004

That wouldn't seem to fit with the day I got my four pairs of twin psychoguns. I found two of them around... whatever the equivalent of 1:30 AM is, on the same Hard Temple run without even meaning to. Then later that day, I went for more runs to find more for trading... I did three or four more runs and saw three more Love Rappies... all but one of them dropped me another psychogun, so I ended up with four. Never got once since...

So I really don't think beat-time has anything to do with it. My characters have sometimes gone on streaks lasting two days before they were gone again...
