It's all about style. If someone wants to take the hit to their stats to look the way they want or use the weapon they want then there's nothing that can be done. Although it seems useless, it's all up to the person playing the game to decide that, now isn't it?

Why do rangers use partisans? The same reason they use sabers, twin sabers, claws, and certain daggers: quite simply, because they CAN. This has become one of my peeves. I've had people complain to me when they see me using a melee weapon with my rangers, even in single player... I mean wtf? Please excuse me, I'm sorry for using my Twin Brand because obviously it affects YOU when you're not even playing. ¬_¬ (that wasn't directed at anyone here, it was just more of a general rant)
It's not like you're hurting anyone by meleeing. If you can cut it, why not? I mean, I'm not gonna melee if I'm having problems with the level; I start out with the Frozen Shooter and Spread Needle, and then I start to melee once I'm slightly comfortable in that level. The game becomes monotonous when you use the same weapon too often... and this is especially true for rangers because gun animations themselves are monotonous.
Even if you're online, you're not really detracting from the team depending on the situation. If you go meleeing against big monsters in multiplayer, yeah, that's kinda dumb... you should freeze them if possible. But ranger "duties" aren't... or at least, shouldn't be... a one-size-fits-all policy.
My RAmar carries a Frozen Shooter, Spread Needle and Twin Psychogun... but he also carries a Red Saber, Twin Brand and sometimes a Soul Eater. And there's nothing wrong with any of it.

sorry i left ait out in my first post and the title what i meant is why can ranger use partisans but not the rare partisans except soul eater

My RAcaseal is pretty much strictly a meleer. Why, because it's a challenge. And if you've ever seen a RAnger using the S-beat blades special then you've never experienced the marvel of cutting down an enemy in around two hits doing no damage what-s0-ever.

i have no beef with meeleing rangers I just wonder why they are supposed partisan user yet can only equip 1 rare partisan were as forces can equip around 3-4 rare partisans.

Oh, you mean why CAN'T rangers use the rare partisans? Good question, I'd definitely agree. They can use the normal partisans, why not the rares? I'm thinking if I wanted to put a Gae Bolg on my RAmar, why not? But meh. If you have a female ranger, you can find her a Madam's Umbrella... it's more powerful than the Soul Eater, has the same special, and recovers TP instead of draining HP (I think). Now, if only my RAmarl had the 500 ATP to equip the one I got her, without using four Ogre/Powers... :ermm:

That is strange. Technically FOrces can't use partisans they use scythes, which are not really diffent, but then, in a way, they are.

Well you gotta remember, there are few weapons out there, that u think a HUmar could use cause its his type but then it says its only ment for rangers or so on. Same with weapons that says its only for Male characters, as with Female characters they get there own set of weapons to.
