My Judgement of Resident Evil 4 - Double Edge - 15-05-2005
I have thrown down the evil zombies once and for all! Alas, I have completed Resident Evil 4. While I'm sure some of you are thinking, "Oh wow, I beat it 3 months ago" and yadda yadda yadda, I'm happy. My judgement of the game, is as follows:
Gameplay - The gameplay of RE4 was fantasmal. The idea of of laser aimers on the vast majority of weapons rather than your typical crosshair was a nice change. The new improved behind-the-back camera angle had no faults whatsoever when it came to my playing. The different action moves available in the game, too, were great. I liked how your options broadened once your vile enemies were stunned, such as kicks and throws. The arsenal in RE4 was superb, also. The different handguns, magnums, shotguns, rifles, and SMGs were fun to play with. I do, however, wish that there were a few more guns to play with during the course of the game. BUT, for those of you who don't know already, there may still be a few more available.....post-game....*wink*
Sound - What can be said? The sounds were very well done. I especially enjoyed the variety of "death noises" your enemies made once tremendous damage had been inflicted upon them.
Extras (Spoilers Included) - As I already, partially, mentioned above, there are a nice, wide, broad, great, good, cool......variety of extras that may, or may not, become available upon the game's completion. Some examples may, or may not, include fun "things" such as "Assignment Ada", "The Mercenaries", and...did someone say you can play the game over again with a different outfit and a new arsenal (con't from your previous game).
Value - The Overall Value of RE4 was good. I think that a game contained on 2 discs definitely could have had a little more length. I completed it the first time through in ~20 hours, give or take. However, keep in mind that with all of the included extras, you'll be playing RE4 for at least 100 more.
Overall - Oh, what a great game. The gameplay was something to be marveled. I cannot believe such a series continuation could be as grand as RE4 was. And then there's the numerous shooting ranges, as well as 'Tune Ups' on all of your weapons. I could go on and on, but rather than spoil more of the game for you if you have not yet played it, go rent it. No, BUY IT! :happy:
DE's Rating: 9.8/10, for slightly short longevity.
Final Words: Ada is hot.
