Thoughts on all 3 consoles? - mr_shoe_uk - 19-05-2005 Now that all three major consoles have been revealed, and we know the basic pros and cons of each, which would you say has you most excited? You don't have to vote just yet, because we haven't actually seen anything the Revolution can do. As it stands though, I still think the Revolution holds most promise. 'Only' three times as powerful as the Gamecube may not be much in comparison to Xbox 360 and PS3, but as many of you have seen the new Zelda trailers, I'm sure you'll agree it can't really become much more impressive with ever increasing power. Not to mention the increased hardware will only mean development times and costs become longer and more expensive. Mircosoft and others have already said the next generation games will probably be £60 each to cover the increased cost, and publishers hardly take risks on inventive games as it is, I doubt they'll become more likely to do so when the development costs and times are increased further still. As well as that, I also think the Revolution looks best. Looks are of course, in the eye of the beholder, but the Revolution is so attractively futuristic and slim-line it's hard to imagine people not letting it grow on them, neatly tucked away anywhere they want. Xbox 360 is a big improvement on the original, but I'm a little unsure of the curved sides. Similarly the PS3's curved top looks fairly good, but doesn't seem very practical. As for the PS3 contoller.. Well I doubt anyone can think it looks even remotely comfortable or attractive. Most of all though, is the Revolution's ability to download the entire Nintendo back catalogue. As if all those excellent games weren't enough, I can see Nintendo maybe even making new Snes-style games available at a fairly small cost for download. I for one would prefer another brilliant snes Zelda style adventure than an incredibly expensive racing game with licensed cars and ultra-realistic skidmarks. One of the earliest demonstrations of Xbox 360's power is a baseballer's clothes realistically rippling when he swings. You may disagree, but in my opinion when this is the pinnacle of what a gaming machine is able to do, the aspect which they're most eager to show off, we've gone too far in the power struggle, to the point where we don't care how much better graphics can get. Thoughts on all 3 consoles? - Kisanzi - 19-05-2005 I say revolution as well right now. Nintendo's marketing strategy is brilliant, and the constant anticipation for the system has got me very anxious. Although they say that it's only three times more powerful than the GC, that's because they're giving us real in-game specs, unlike Sony and Microsoft who give us the specs when running tech demos. I like the look of the system and however wrong it sounds, I think the Revolution is just dead sexy. So slim and shiny with those five different colors, gotta love 'em! But do know that PS3 is a very close second place right now. I mostly say this for the next generation of namesake franchises like Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, etc. But we'll see when Nintendo actually shows us the darn revolution in action. Let us see already!!! Thoughts on all 3 consoles? - Double Edge - 19-05-2005 Well said. I believe Revolution will do the best mainly because it will show the "Nintendo Haters" aka. XBOX and PS2 fanboys, what Ninty is really made of. They won't be able to disguise their gasps as they gaze upon the Revolution's beauty. They will realize how grand Nintendo truly is. What mr. shoe said. Word for word. So many more improvements on the Revolution, than the step-ups from the XBOX and PS2. Cools! Thoughts on all 3 consoles? - mr_shoe_uk - 19-05-2005 I'm glad you agree! There's bound to be some people who think the realistic baseballer I described sounds like the greatest achievement in gaming ever.. Personally though, the best looking new game I've played in the past few months is Yoshi Touch and Go. Barely a step on from the graphics of Yoshi's Island on the snes, but the drawn backgrounds are so pretty that it impresses far more than a realistic racer could for me. This is the kind of thing Nintendo makes me look forward to, innovation in gaming that can be more imaginative, so much fresher than already defined routes, that ps3 and xbox360 just seem to be continuing the iteration of. Thoughts on all 3 consoles? - Double Edge - 19-05-2005 I wholeheartedly agree. The truth be told, the PS3 and XBOX 360 are both simply continuations of their predecessors. The Ninty Revolution, however, is a whole new breed of gaming. It cannot be matched. Nintendo will, without a doubt, pull off the best gaming console to date. Thoughts on all 3 consoles? - zero132132 - 19-05-2005 I like both PS3 and the Revolution but I had to vote for PS3 because I think that the game variety will be better as it has in the past. I like Revolution a lot too though so don't argue with me about which you think will be better. I personally think that games/consoles are just going to get better and better and better until eventually there won't be a home without one. Unfortunately this is just wishful thinking and will probably never happen. Thoughts on all 3 consoles? - Judgment - 19-05-2005 Revolution definatly. PS3 sounds alright and ill prbaly be getting it but XBOX 360 dosent interest me at all yet :S Thoughts on all 3 consoles? - Faulkie - 19-05-2005 Here comes an opinion from a Nintendo fanboy. ![]() I DEFINITELY think the revolution will be the best BY FAR, and I'm not just saying it because it's Nintendo! It's looks great, the features (namely downloading great past titles) are really cool, and we can expect all the innovation and great game ideas we've come to expect from Nintendo. Watch out Sony and Microsoft, you're about to get blown away! Thoughts on all 3 consoles? - Double Edge - 20-05-2005 I got a good view of the Revolution today. It's so sleek, sexy, and built incredibly well. By the way, PS2, I think, did have a better variety of games. However, I've always thought that Nintendo's characters, games, etc., have more detail and thought put into them. Therefore, my verdict is Quality > Quantity.
