stay legit:
dont accept presents from strangers whatever it may be.
stay save:
when warping, leaving to the lobby equip the weapon most precious to you.
only carry one precious weapon and back up the other needs with shoprares that you buy in dozens.
(for example, you use a hunter with a zanba-sword and cover up the distance and 1on1 kill needs with a 50 hit charge vulcans)
dont go into crowded lobbies, dont enter games from lobby 1 (you have a higher chance on fsoding when leaving the game again).

I like to stay in the Europe or Japan ships because the american ships are usually the ones that have to much hacking crap going on.

Except for backup duping (which was discussed in another thread and thus, not here, but I personally support), the only way to guard items is to bank them before you leave the game. This does not cover random FSODs, however.
Rena has a point... try starting a game from a non-1 lobby. What you should do is find legit players, get as many of their guild cards as you can, and soon you'll be able to simply look for them using your card list. Don't join them if they're in Vega though, I would say. I've rarely seen anyone but illegits there. All the US ships are in an uncertain state right now due to hacker efforts, so I'd hang out in the EU ships... Regulus and Polaris might be where hackers hang out in EU, but other ships there seem safe. Not sure.
I'd disagree with Rena on one point: you can probably accept any 9-star rares unless they have crazy percents, because most players have 10 million of those anyway and would give them away at the drop of a hat.
Just don't go accepting Zanbas and Sealed Js.

hey rena-ko you didn't mean nomal warps in forest cave. etc.? and those random fsod's i lose everything except for my equipped weap and armor?
isn't there any private servers to play on either. ? that was probaly my last question..

There are no private servers, yet... there's been speculation on some should ST's servers ever die, but you aren't allowed to talk about them here.
Random FSOD makes you lose whatever items you did not have equipped at your last save. I learned this one day when I got random FSODed on a TTF run. I had my Twin Brand equipped, but it was the Spread Needle that I did not lose (acutally I didn't lose either, I had backup dupes, but that's another issue). What Rena means, then, is any warp that causes you to make a memcard save after you reach your destination (warps to/from P2, between level sections or to a boss count, but the cyan in-level warps don't).

It tells you how to avoid the "Nasties" online. If you have the pal disk, there is very limited help for the FSOD I am afraid since there is no anti Kazi.WS episode 1&2 Pal codes for AR and they would be the only thing that could stop that (bar a Proxy server but we won't go into that since staff members seem to flip out at the slightest mention of non official servers and the likes).
