Review: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Double Edge - 01-08-2005

I actually saw this movie 2 days ago, but might as well say a thing or two about it anyway, huh. I felt that this movie was quite well done in certain ways. Willy Wonka, played by the fantastically talented Johnny Depp was humourous yet still sported pizzazz (Depp [Jack Sparrow] from movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean). Him and Christopher Lee (Lee [Saruman] from movies such as the Lord of the Rings films), Dr. Wonka, were the only two overly famous actors in this film, but the talent and spark the younger actors/actresses had was quite good.

The movie had some funny parts, and one or two potentially touching moments. Willy Wonka was definitely portrayed excellently by Depp, and was quite funny. For instance, his laugh had me laughing for a good portion of the film. Of course, who can forget the infamous Oompaloompas who made their appearances on several occasions throughout the movie's duration. They were quite interesting in the ways they acted, just as in the original movie.

The movie is not too long and not too short; pretty much the length a movie should be. At risk of revealing some spoilers, I will end this 'review' by recommending it for people of all ages, and they will definitely get a good laugh or two out of it.

DE's Rating: 8.5 kernels of popcorn out of 10

Ummm I saw it...It was all right. Depp is no where near as good as Gene Wilder.

That's just what's been bugging me! Don't you reckon that could be offensive to people? Surely they're gonna be sued, and then Wonka Chocolate inc will go out of business! :O

why would they be sued for blk oompas? o w8 there sposed to be orange arnt they?

What I mean is that it's probably racial discrimination since the oompa loompas are like slaves...
