There are loads of awesome English bands that I like.
My favourite band is lostprophets...but they are Welsh...oph well...
Iron Maiden, A, Feeder (well...technically...they are Welsh/Japanese/American) are a few...I cant be bothered to name others.

SOAD are wierdly wonderfull lol They are cool, i listen to stuff like nightwish, atreyu and my favourite british band, bullet for my valentine! Seen them live twice and they are absolutely brilliant......genius even. ^_^
