Asian Cinema - Dkgamer - 26-01-2006

I havent seen any threads in here about Asian cinema which suprised me. Im a big fan of Asian cinema.
My favourite director is Miike Takashi, he has done films like Ichi the killer, Audition, Dead or alive, The triad trilogy and the Happiness of the katakuris, all great films. I also love battle royale although the sequel was not great.
I like samurai films too like the babycart series.

So anyone else watch any Asian movies? What are your favourites?

there are tons of asian movies i have watched - and that i like.

and actually there are too many to name them all...

himitsu no hanasono,
unagi,
shall we dansu?,
all movies by takeshi kitano,
etc...

miike's stuff.. well... i acknowledge him as director... ichi and audition are good.

Have you ever seen Pyromaniac?

Asian Cinema - rena-ko - 30-01-2006

as dvd in the shops, yes. semi interesting, but a bit too expensive.

Asian Cinema - Dkgamer - 31-01-2006

Thats one of the only drawbacks of being a fan of asian cinema. The dvd's tend to cost a lot. But most of the time they are worth it.

i usually try to obtain any movie worth buying. tho, lately its hard. lots of junk gets released over here just because its "asian cinema".
plus, it gets boring if there are just violent movies or horror movies. or violent horrormovies.

Pyromaniac I found very interesting. It was flashy as well. Good plot, I thoroughly enjoyed it, I must say.

Asian Cinema - Dkgamer - 02-02-2006

Im not familiar with pyromaniac. Il have to look into it.
Has anyone seen a film called Uzumaki? Its one of the weirdest films ive ever seen. A guy commits suicide in a washing machine and everyone turns into snail like things lol

Asian Cinema - rena-ko - 02-02-2006

yah, uzumaki was a good movie. even tho the manga was way better as it actually tried to explain things.

Asian Cinema - Dkgamer - 02-02-2006

Yeah the manga was cool. I expected the movie to suck, but its suprisingly good ^_^
