<P><FONT face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Just a slip of interesting news here quickly.</FONT></P><P><FONT face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">If you're a European or Japanese resident, then you are still able to play in the greatness of <EM>Phantasy Star Online&nbsp;</EM>&amp; <EM>Phantasy Star Online, Version 2</EM> online for the SEGA Dreamcast using Sonic Team's official servers. However, from 20th May 2006, Sonic Team of Japan are altering the Hunters License system for the platform so that... you don't need one! Yep, that's right - From 20th May, <EM>Phantasy Star Online</EM>&nbsp;for the SEGA Dreamcast will be free to play, making it the first free <EM>PSO</EM> game to play online - It only took 6 years eh? :p</FONT></P><P><FONT face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The announcement&nbsp;was declared for&nbsp;the Japanese version of <EM>PSO</EM>, so maybe it's got something to do with the fact that <EM>Universe</EM>&nbsp;is now out too? It's good to know that if you wait long enough, the servers will still be around and free to play on anyways wouldn't you say!</FONT></P>

Maybe its my terrible memory but i thought Ver1 was free back in the day.
Its nice for SEGA to cut the HL on the DC anyway but i doubt it will exactly have people pouring back into it just because its now free.

To be honest i never played PSO on the Dreamcast but to my knowledge they still used a Hunters License system...

Regardless, whether they used one in Europe/America or not, they definately used it in Japan on the Dreamcast!

Whats the point?DC died for all but a few die-hard fans back about three years ago.They weren't making any money from it anyway.

Actually i believe the Japanese servers are still booming with players - They're still making and releasing SEGA Dreamcast games in Japan!

I'd love to take my DC online again but using a modem is out of the question and tbh the broadband adapter is generally far too expensive.
