I was reading up on that old, "I need metal" post and had to say, your missing a few, and some good bands that arn't metal
ok lets start off with, the fact your missing one of the greatest bands created
Tool... Yes Tool, got a new album 10,000days check it out.
For hardcore "metal" theres Bleed the sky, personally, the angry lyrics and dirty screaming, does it for me. (Killtank or Leverage [songs])
Element Eighty, check them out, try... Pancake land(yes pancake land...) or goodbye
You already mentioned trivium... good thing.
Check out chevelle, their not hardcore shit, but they are really good try "still running"
Everytime I die Saw these guys live, amazing.. Try "Kill the music" or "Ebolorama"
For more punk, which everyone should have in there life, try Propaghandi "Speclative Fiction"
Or NOFX and if you dont know them, they are huge... and you have been missing out!
Heaven Shall Burn "Weapon they fear" amamzing song, for an amazing band
Submersed "Divide the hate" Not alot of screaming in this one, but its wicked
God forbid "End of the world" Decent.
Killswitch Engage- surprised it wasnt mentioned "Rose Of Sharyn"
The almighty Trigger happy "In hate" Discusting guitar solos.
Il Nino "This is War" love this song, is a must!
Flaw "Medicate" now that i think about it, love all of these...
I cant think of any at the moment, and im in class lol

Its not all hardcore, but then again alot of people are closed minded to the thought of some guy screaming into a mic.
Thats the thing, these bands are some of the most musically talented and are ignored for there choice in vocals.
Alot of the bands I listen to dont simply scream, they sing as well.
Its a way to show anger, and I personally love that.
Who said angry rock music makes you angry? Their anger makes you happy lol

TOOL FTW
I downloaded it onto my iPod the day it came out. And i have all three of Tool's other alblums on my iPod. And of course i bought the CD.
Big-time drum fans, BUY EVERY FRICKIN' TOOL ABLUM YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON. They have one of the top 5 (if not #1) drummers in the entire world. The guy is insane. He pwns tommy lee.
Also, for reggae/punk rock buy Red Hot Chilli Pepper's new ablum Stadium Arcadium. Very good band, pretty frickin' crazy too. EXCELLENT BASS. Some of their songs are like crazy punk rock, and some are more mellow. Some are really mellow. Very good band, buy them, or i will rip your head off. it's a Double Ablum BTW.

Tool tends to do that, and then the next song they have on there will sooth you or something.
They remind me of a harder pink floyd, and just as screwed up in the head with music vids and album covers, maybe even more...
rosetta stoned by them drives me nuts, I love the lyrics to the song...
(get it if you can!) (even read the lyrics and see how screwed up they are lol)
As for the red hot chilli peppers being punk rock? are you kidding me... Even the thought of them trying that discusts me lol

yeh... RHCP are not punk rock........ just like hot topic is not punk rock. both... are not.
NOFX is alright. dont listen to them too much. course i listen to more emo-punk-s**t nowadays.
Amber pacific, matchbook romance, the early november,the academy is, hidden in plain view, taking back sunday, brand new. and more. you guys should check those bands out. thats just a few off the top of my head. the best ones IMO.
