PS3 too expensive, XBox sniffing up crumbs

SOME SEVENTY percent of Japanese gamers said they were more exited about the imminent arrival of Wii than they were about any other console.

The overwhelming majority of readers of Famitsu magazine are persuaded that Sony's rival conslole, the Playstation 3, will be overpriced.

And so they are ready to snaffle up Nintendo's more slimly-priced model like like it's the only show in town.

Eight-eight percent said the Playstation was too expensive.

A slim seven percent said they were anticpating cough up for an XBox 360. µ

yeah, Wii is better anyway! its gonna be too so much cooler than te other systems, it'll blow them away with its environmentally-friendly solar-powered coolness!

Environmentally-friendly solar-powered coolness?! Interesting...

Wii will kick ass as it seems to be getting a lot more interest by developers so at the moment it's got everything going for it - Games, Price tag, and Players!

Yeah ok then....

Anyway, seems the whole planet is Wii crazy really. Seems in the past 2 days on Japanese websites(no source sorry, been taken down, shock horror) the Wii was available to pre-order at ta-daa 18,000 yen. A mere £95(ish) WTF?????

Ok so the Wii is not the newest tech but still, 18,000 yen???? If it was just an over zealous employee with too much coffee inside them, fine, but it seems this price cropped up on more than one site.

I, of course, take this with a HUGE pinch of salt, because i couldn't see Nintendo pricing themselves out. I say still £200 here in blighty.

no, i think that's a fair price, possibly a tiny bit low though. the companies do (used to) not make any profit on the console, they make it on the games, so ninty could be selling the console at a loss, encouraging more people to buy it, then buying the games for it where ninty make a profit. i wouldn't suddenly die of shock if that happened, but i wouldnt expect it, either.

Ok, Nintendo president has gone on record saying that Wii will be no more than $250/25000yen w00t. Europe will have price parity £150 anyone? w00t.

Nintendo are to reveal the launch date(s) and final price of Wii at the Leipzig game show(germany) Aug 24th-27th. This info was supposed to be released at TGS in september but has been bought forward for some reason.

tbh I believe that Nin will be selling the Wii at cost or very near. They have not yet lost money on any system in the past.
