I know there's pokemon fans out there Tongue So the fact that there's soon going to be a new Poke-fest being released on Nintendo DS must have some people excited! W00t!

However, the particular point in making such a thread now is because of this newly released information i've come across concerning how Pokemon Diamond & Pearl takes advantage of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection! What? NO WAI! Yea....

However, the public aspect is very, very interesting. This system will not require you to exchange friend codes. There are two systems which feature predominantly in the public aspect: the Trading System and the Battle Tower.

The trading system will allow you to search for a specific pokemon, and it will result in a list of all possible trainers who would be willing to trade you this pokemon...for the right offer, of course. You can make an offer, and the trainer will either accept the offer or decline it. If the trainer isn't online at the moment you make this offer, he or she will be notified about this possible trade the next time they come online. Pretty neat stuff.

The Battle Tower gives you the chance to upload your elite team of Pokemon to a server. You have the ability to download other people's teams of pokemon, ready for battle. However, the downside is that they will be computer controlled, rather than human controlled. Also, you will only be able to download teams that are around your level. Still, a nifty option.

The online features of this title are starting to fit together nicely. The public and private system, the already confirmed private VoIP and the fact that Pokemon is a killer franchise could soon see this game flying off the shelves!

So you can battle privately using Friend Codes, OR you can fight anyone who plays pokemon with NWC, and they don't even have to be online to do it! AWESOME! Now i can defeat people while i'm asleep too Tongue The little trading post thing they've got going on too sounds pretty neato Wink

Could at last Pokemon be coming of age? The scope for what can really be done with this gaming franchise hopefully will exceed all expectations on the Wii, but for now still hyped for the new DS incarnations, have been for months. Pokemon - Gotta buy 'em all. Lolas.

The new Physical/Special system is pretty intriguing as well, should completely change the game.
