Believe in long-distance relationships? - Mirinee - 19-10-2006 "You know how I feel about long-distance relationships... will ours survive?" ![]() I've known and loved someone for no less than three years, but now we live a 4 hour train journey apart and it will be at least another year if not two before we can be together again. For my part, I do believe. I'm old fashioned and I believe in love. We still only love each other but we're both quite busy so we can't visit each other as often as we'd like to. Will emails/telephones/internet videoconferencing, or even "love", save this relationship? Despite the lack of PSO in our lives recently (that's not really a reason, I'm joking ) I don't want to break up. I don't think I'll ever meet anyone else like this person.Only time will tell. Do you believe in long-distance relationships? Believe in long-distance relationships? - colohue - 19-10-2006 I was with my girlfriend seven months, then she went to Mexico. I have to believe because more often than not she doesn't. Believe in long-distance relationships? - Forge - 19-10-2006 I think that it is wholly possible for such a thing to work, for if someone truly loves someone else, then nothing will be able to get in the way of that. Direct communication becomes difficult, but communication nevers ends. There is also that old saying, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." Whilst I am currently not in a relationship, I have just moved to university; several of my friends are continuing relationships from back home. There are difficulties, but none of them have given up yet, and I don't see it quickly happening. What I have seen happen is interest in other people, although my friends that have remained in relationships realise that it was only lust, and that the love for their partner was too great to throw away for a bit of physical indulgence. In another friend, I see the jealousy of his partner, but still they remain together. In these cases, everything is new and yet to be experienced, but I am really happy that my friends have remained with their partners. Long distance relationships do work, but they are different from close proximity relationships in a way that I am unable to grasp directly, having never been in one. Believe in long-distance relationships? - Darkwolf30 - 19-10-2006 I've had almost the same thing happen. I been going out with my girlfriend for 2 years then she moved about 5 hours away and we still see each other every once and a while (but i can drive >.>) and we still talk on the phone and internet. It's worked out for a year so i believe in them and i believe it can work, just remember to keep trying to get into concact. And with 4 hrs away it shouldn't be hard to get in contact because you should still be in the same time zone. Believe in long-distance relationships? - pink - 19-10-2006 Two of my best friend are in a very long distance relationship... not just subtle distances like 4 or 5 hours, we're talking a good 2000 kilometers away. I believe they can pull through though, they're both strong people. Believe in long-distance relationships? - Darkwolf30 - 19-10-2006 Oh it's possible to do any distance, just longer distance makes it alot harder to see each other. Believe in long-distance relationships? - pink - 19-10-2006 Main difference here is that they've never been in physical contact before. Believe in long-distance relationships? - Darkwolf30 - 19-10-2006 Well yea, that's differnet. But then again they could probably meet soon >.> never know. Also depends if they don't mind their parents driving them or them driving theirself. Believe in long-distance relationships? - pink - 19-10-2006 I choose not to comment on that one... >.> I think your relationship will be fine Mirinee. There's a lot harder to maintain ones out there after all. Believe in long-distance relationships? - Darkwolf30 - 19-10-2006 Yep, That's what i was getting at. Everything should be fine. Just keep in contact. |
