The Colony Crashes


"It's okay baby girl, I've got you."

Safety. Cold. They were moving frantically. That was okay though, she was safe.

"Rejik, come this way. It's faster."

"We can take a shortcut to the observatory and eject."

"But what's to stop Aramus from blasting us out of the sky."

Panic. A rising feeling of dread. This wasn't good.

"Nothing. We'll go and get blown up. At least it will protect the civilian escapees."

Wonderful, incoming death. Typical.

"Don't worry baby girl. I'm not going to let anybody blow you up. You're safe with me here."

They were moving again. Off to escape in blazing style. They'd be okay, Rejik would look after her.

"I've got her General."

"Is she okay?"

"There's a lot of blood but the pulse is still strong."

Lucy?

"She's strong my little girl. She'll be okay, we just need to get these two out of here."

She's okay. It'll all be okay.

"Which planet do we head to?"

"I say Moatoob. We can take them out."

"Miss Firebrand kindly keep your delusions of grandeur to yourself. There are five of us, two of which are unconscious. You yourself have a new scar on the back of your head that you assume I have not noticed. Rejik here has a major dent in his casing. We're hardly an almighty army are we?"

"It would take a lot more than that to stop me."

"Who do you trust more, the casts or the newmans?"

"I suggest you think very carefully before you answer this. You are running with a newman and a cast right now after all."

"And the only one not currently carrying an incapacitated female as well."

You tell him Reji.

"How are they both?"

"Alive, but not altogether intact. We're missing a bit of ear over here."

"Really?"

"No, I never had any ears to begin with."

"Rejik, this is neither the time nor the place for ridiculous jokes such as that."

"Lucy is okay. She's stopped bleeding now. We just need to get her somewhere safe to rest off the injury."
