Emperor Wrote:Can you bring the PM into a fight when its at a higher lvl?
I was in a party last night where I was getting on really well with everyone. I was playing Ranger and there was one Hunter that was doing their job 'perfectly' by knocking down flying mobs so we could nuke/shoot them on the ground, when there were two bad guys the Hunter would pull one away and keep it distracted whilst the rest of the party concentrated on the other, if there was a pack of mobs heading for us the Hunter would get straight in there and grab their attention, and they were constantly changing weapon to suit the situation.
It wasn't until my 3rd or 4th run with the same party that I realised the 'Hunter' was actually the party leader's PM.
The two main considerations when deciding to level your PM are:
1. Do you want to specialise in a particular type of crafting? e.g. striking weapons, ranged weapons, force weapons
2. What type of PM behaviour do you want to complement your playstyle during missions
There are a zillion minor considerations including:
"I don't care what I feed it, I just want one"
"It must fit in with my shop decorations"
"Do I really want both a PM and my NPC spamming battle with comments?"
You 'evolve' your PM by feeding it, select 'Give Item' from the PM menu and give it something from your inventory. The four stats - Striking, Ranged, Technic and Armor change depending on the item you give it.
For example, if you want a pure 100 Striking PM feed it a combination of:
Fruit Juice (Striking +12, Technic + 3) - buy the boards and ingredients in the synthesis shop
Striking Weapons (Striking + 4, Technic -1) - collect these as you go and synthesise knives, daggers, sabers, swords and so on from the various recipies you pick up along the way
If you feed it 3 weapons for every juice then eventually you'll end up with a pure striking PM that specialises in crafting striking weapons (the %age chance of succeeding when synthesising a striking weapon is higher than it would be on an unlevelled PM).
There are 5 possible end-evolutions for your partner machine depending on which stat or combination of stats you decided to level (the GH-410, GH420, GH-430, GH-440 and GH450), and each of the evolutions behaves differently in battle and uses different weapons. Battle effectiveness is increased by bringing your PM out on missions and earning them mission points, which go into the PM's B.St. Whilst your NPC is always 3 levels higher than you, your PM is always 10 levels higher than you.
During evolution the PM will change form 3 times:
at Production Level 20 (it gets arms)
at Production Level 50 (it changes form)
at Production Level 80 (it changes form again and you can start taking it into battle)
And, um, that's about it. For more information on the other types of end-evolution aside from Striking search around, it's all out there.
