in the midle of the level when he grows up, he smashed the seiling, couln't he jump and wal all the way to the finish line?

when he is on the moving platform at a certain point theres an obstacle, he tries to climb and a mushroom apear, he growns up and smashes the seiling (he is so very close to it), couln't he break some bricks and go up?
