Multiplayer question
#11
Modern aged RPG games seem to be moving away from offline multiplayer gaming. Look at FFXI, Guildwars, PSO:BB or even WoW. The thing is, if people play offline multiplayer getting laughs with their friends, they're less likely to feel the need to expand into the online comminity. This means the fat cats don't ge their money Tongue

Due to the nature of the Phantasy star series, there's a distinct possibility PSU will feature split screen action, but I'll have to cast my vote and say I don't think it'll happen.

I am sure it won't feature the first idea you came up with (splitscreen + online play). My reasons for thinking this are:

Splitscreen mode usually results in less in depth game features (look at PSO splitscreen, the menus and the wat the map comes up - not to mention camera angles. It's all different). This means there may be compatibility issues with playing with others online.

Also, your (in my opinion) great idea that I hoped would be included in GC PSO a long time ago would mean less people had to buy HLs and thus once again the guys at the top don't get their money.

Who knows what will happen. I just offered up some possibilities. Cool

We've been told there will be no offline multiplayer in PSU for any of the systems. Just to clear this up. >_>

(3 weeks shouldn't be a bump)

As far as i know SEGA are not adding a offline multiplayer mode, due to alot of issues.

1) PSU will be a graphics heavy game, and sacrificing alot of it for a split screen isnt worth it

2) Lag issues, when playing with 2-4 chars, slow downs can occur in several areas

3) ONLINE > OFFLINE Big Grin Big Grin

sorry about that,

There is still a high chance of SEGA releasing a game disk for offline multi play

much like the GC PSO EP1&2
Currently:
  • Making a PSO Winamp Theme
  • Making a PSO Winrar theme
  • Making pages for PsoA comic
  • Leveling my characters Big Grin

Yeah, I couldn't imagine this game being split-screen. The PS2 game (X360 version as well, perhaps ?) already has major camera issues as reported at E3, imagine having half the screen to rotate cameras angles to see if there are any enemies around - tricky.

No, there isn't any chance of that. This isn't PSO where we need multiple versions of the game for new content. PSU's systems are much more capable of holding all sorts of new content (which means no v3 PSU), thus, no split-screen.

Online costs money, not everyone is willing to pay a monthly fee.

Perhaps I will, if I can pay with microsoft points.
