wide area network eh...and in terms of computer talk how do you acquire a wan ?

connect a computer to the internet, usually through a network card, some network cable (10 or 100 base-T) into a router, and that plugs into the phone socket through a filter (usually dont need a broadband modem cause the router has one built in)

then you just log into the router and input the e-mail address for the aol screenname and the password (has to be 8 or under chracters i think and both in lower case, then you save and there you go one basic lan set up through the router and connected to wan too and also you dont got to run aol to use the internet on computers connected to the lan (might have to set up static ip's and port forwarding for some stuff though) and you only got to enter the information once for the whole use of the router so its a good idea to make a dummy account for the router
