Maybe how well you take care of your own town.... when you visit close friends towns they could rate you. Yeah that kind of thing. Maybe some Nintendo Corp run towns where people can earn friendly rating.

Gah! In the GC version you cannot, besides the clothes and face (http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/gamecube/...g_eyes.txt). But in ACDS you can make them wear different hats and glasses.
