Considering the monster drop types (http://www.tychopso.oddigytitanium.com/H...Types.html), I recommend you to rely on the shops for non-rare armors/shields, instead of trying to unlock DSP for them. That, or boxes.
About Pinkal, it's bad. I've played a Pinkal FOnl for 1K+ hours, and by the time I got past the point where I was willing to use the 9-star Wands (which are extremely common and not exclusive to Pinkal), the ID didn't really have anything that was useful to me anymore. In episode IV it can get Clio though, which is an interesting FO weapon (but not worth wasting an ID on, really).
