Yeah... this is all in the IL Anti-Snarf thread about quest movie guides... (that's right, you heard me)

Here is the first post of that thread:
me Wrote:http://rapidshare.de/files/6211264/The_F...w.mpg.html - This is a practice run of doing a FiY on GC.

http://rapidshare.de/files/6421703/East_Tower.rar.html - This is a practice run (but better) of doing the East Tower on PSO+

You will need the DivX Codec Play Bundle to view them: http://www.divx.com/ (the Playbundle one)

That is a pretty junky practice one of the Fake in Yellow. I didn't set my focus on my digital camera right, so it keeps trying to focus every time I move, and there are other errors with it, that's why it's just an example (it also isn't a hard quest).

Now, I'd like some of you to get started on these things. In order to do it though:
1 - You must have an overly high character. I don't want to see you getting your butt whooped on film!
2 - You must have a digital recorder if you are on GC, if you are on BB though, you do not. I have a digital camera, not stupendous, but it works (as long as I set it right...)
3 - You must either have broadband internet or alot of patience, because most of these files will be atleast 20MB. Some of them will need to be WinRARed into split archives due to huge sizes. This is 20MB in size after cutting the audio, shrinking the image, and super-compression too. .MPG files are HUGE.
4 - go to the Links section of our site and get DivX Codec, VirtualDub, and WinRAR. You will need all three of these. (http://www.freewebs.com/anti-snarf/links.htm is where you will find all of it)

Record the Quest

If you are on GC: use a digital recorder, but set the focus and the light sensitivity correctly.
If you are on BB: use CamStudio
(pictures to help you figure out how to use CamStudio - http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/5921/moviepic13bc.png)

You will want to start off infront of the Guild Counter and say:
Quote:You are watching a quest guide of: <next Chat Shortcut> QUEST NAME <next Chat Shortcut> with YOURUSERNAME's CHARACTERTYPE, CHARACTERNAME.

Like what I started out as.

Then you will show what equipment you are using. You don't want to carry a zillion weapons like me there in FiY. I was just showing off That will actually make the movie significantly longer if you take too many weapons. You should also scroll through them faster than I did; I realized after taping it that if the viewer actually wants to see the percents on the weapons, he can just pause the video.

Then you start the quest, again you can go slightly faster through the words, but allow enough time so that people can atleast pause it fast enough.

Then do the quest, and use Chat Shortcuts for any important things you should point out.

Allow enough time for people to see what enemies are out there before you start killing them.

Finish the quest and stop recording.

Editing the Movie
Put the movie on your computer, and open it with VirtualDub. - you must have already downloaded the DivX Codec also.

Pictures explaining how to use VirtualDub: http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/9171/moviepic27em.png

On the VirtualDub menus:
- Audio > click No Audio (the audio accounts for soooo much of the memory, it's best to delete it)

- Video > Compression (box pops up) > DivX Codec 6.0 (that's the other thing you downloaded) > Configure
-- Main Tab > Encode Mode > 1 pass > kilobits/second: 400ish... when you save, if the file is above 60MB still, lower the kilobit rate a bit, but only as little as needed
-- Codec Tab > change quality to "Insane Quality"
-- Video Tab > go to Custome Resize > 360 by 270 pixels
-- Okay
- Okay

- File > Save as ".Avi"
-- change "Audio-Visual Interleave *.Avi" to "All flies *.*"
-- Enter the name of the quest followed by .mpg (ex: The_Fake_in_Yellow.mpg or Forest_of_Sorrow.mpg)
-- Save

Then a box will appear and it will say the saving statistics. It will take a while to save because you set it to "Insane Quality" earlier. That means it saves at high quality, high compression, but does it very slowly...

Then take that save file and WinRAR it. If the file is around 60MB or lower, and you set the WinRARing to "Best" compression, it will go under 50MB, which is what we need.

Then upload the WinRAR file onto RapidShare.de and post the link here. I will then add them to the site.
Too legit to quit.

A little warning: the Software lags Blue burst quite a lot, only use if you can put up with playing incredibly slowly ( i had to increase the speed of my vid an extra 15% to make it look right) Wink
Apologies to my fellow ragol.co.uk Teammates, i'm sorry for leaving you leaderless, and even more so for not getting back. but i wish you the best of luck in my absence! i miss you all!
