i notice lately when i use the who's online feature i see different types of spiders browsing out forums . Two that i remember are google spider and altavista spider...Anyone care to tell me what they are ?

From what i know, its how search engines keep themselves up-to-date with links and information on the www. They spend 24 hours a day searching the internet automatically - every website, every forum - so that when someone searches the certain search engine, theyre assured to recieve few broken links and most recent info first.
Ive never actually seen any of them here though the whole time ive used this forum! lol

ahh so thats what those are well i just wanted to make sure that nothing underhanded was going on without any of the mods or admins permission now that the issue has been addressed lets lock this baby before spammers find it .

Strange though how all search engine spiders are automatically shown up on the 'Currently Online' banners as their actual names, without being registered on every single forum online! I dont know how they do it, but however they do it, its good! ![]() *Locked* |
