Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat
#1
Hey guys!

I've had this game a week now, and can safely say it's incredibly fun! One of the must pure fun, original games I think of!

Unfortunately, it is very short, only 16 main levels, but the way the game is structured, getting medals for different scores lends itself to a lot of replayabilty. The score system itself is very good, the same thing being health and points. Some of the levels are also quite hard to get the top award on. Unfortunately (though I'm not sure if this is just me) I have mastered them fairly easily, and now have top awards on half of the levels. Still though, it's terrific fun, and I have even returned to levels I have the top emblem on, just to play for fun.

The graphics are inredibly good, and the levels wonderfully varied. All in all, I think it's a very enjoyable game, but some may be put off by its length.
Hey, I can still..

I have the game and so far I agree with mr shoe - it does appear quite easy but is also at the same time great fun. Mind you I whack the bongos so hard I can't play for long periods of time!

Here are some tricks for bongo-bashing; PUT PICTURES OF THOSE YOU HATE/ DISLIKE onto the bongos!

It works for me, when I am practising my kicks. Since that Albert picture went up, my wall has suffered FOUR DENTS and ONE HOLE!

it seems alright, but it does seem very short according to what my friend has told me

I've never played it..
I'm mildly interested. From what I've seen on EP it's quite a lot like DDR, no? It looks fun, but perhaps would not have a lasting appeal.

Never played... but I've heard that it is kinda like ddr, which are good games, sounds interesting, I'll probably try it some time.

Donkey Konga is the once that's like the Dance Dance Revolution games. Donkey Konga is very good, but Jungle Beat is actually quite different. It's basically a high-score platformer that you control with the bongos. I must recommend it! My fears of it being too short have been somewhat put to ease, I still do not have all platinum awards, and even though I don't play it so much now, it's always tremendous fun to return to.

i personally hate games that call for more than controllers...
i hate voice commands...
touch screens and the like...

and i will not be getting ds because of it...
but that's another post...

Heh, then you'll never know what you're missing out. Still though, I can sort of see how voice activated commands and bongos to move with could seem a little awkward after you've got used to a control, but a touch screen? This is surely more natural than any control pad?
Besides, it's not as though all DS games need touch control. Mr Driller is one example where I never use the touch screen to play it.
