ive just traded in my dial up modem for a broadband modem, no matter what i try i cant get seem to get online with my gamecube.
im using tiscali broadband, i have the rj45 cable running through my PC, all fire walls and antivirus software is turned off but it just wont let me connect, whenever i connect to homepage it just says connection error at top of screen and page not found in middle of screen.
can anyone give me any advice on this please?

Have you actually enabled connection sharing on the PC?
You have to set up the GC on your PC as a computer that can share internet access.
As to how to do this, I'm not too sure myself ^^

another quick question to add to this, the rj45 cable i have is an ethernet cable, i was just in an electronics shop and saw a rj45 that had crossover cable written on it instead of ethernet. looked exactly the same as the one i have, but there is meant to be a difference (ethernet can move more informaton or something). could that be why i cant get online?
also when i try to get online on the normal game bit i get an message 'error 18' which asks me if i am connected properly.

Yes there is a difference. But I'm not sure which you need. I know that if you are connecting a PC to PC/machine to machine you need one, and a modem/hub/switch to PC you need the other one. I guess that it's crossover for the latter option.
Buy one and take it back if it still doesn't work. Although try everything you can think of before sending it back.
