Hey everyone, im new to these forums, so while im here, i thought id ask a question youve probabily been asked a thousand times!
Ive gathered some items up, and i dont know what theyre for, what do i do with them?! Ive got 4x Photon Drops, 2x Boomas Right Arm, and Amplifiers of some stuff i cant remember the name of! What are they for?
And also, how come whenever im playing online, which ive started doing recently, everyones got briliant weapons, even at the same level as me, what weapons do you all use? Im level 47 HUmar at the mo.
Please help, and great forums guys, overall good Phantasy Star Online website!

Welcome,and here's the answer
U exchange P.drops in gallon's shop,for rare items,in an online quest.Boomas right arm is an animal body part.U can have animal body parts converted to weapons in the quest Sealed Door,by a FOnewm called Montague(usually has a guard around)(Offline I think).Amplifiers boost the power of their respective spell(Ex:Amplifier of zonde boosts zonde).About the weapons,most of them are duped or hacked.If u get a J-sword or Dark Flow,it's probably hacked.

Hey hey, and welcome to the boards.
Ok. The photon drops can be exchanged in the online quest. Galleon's shop. Go here for the guide. Although it seems the guide is down at the moment for some reason. Basically, the more p drops you offer to trade (they must be your inventory when you talk to Hopkins in the alley way), the better the item you get.
Enemy body parts can be converted in an offline quest. I think it is "Dr. Osto's Research". I will edit this when I find out what quest it is. If you see a FOnewman next to the Principal's warp (actually he is called Dr.Montague), talk to him with the body part in your inventory. Then just cancel the quest so you can do it again.
You combine Amplifies with certain barriers you can find. You can trade p drops for them in the online quest. Certain amplifiers need certain barriers. Like an amplifier of resta needs an assist barrier to be combined, an amplifier of red will need a red barrier.
Because most people use hand-me downs for new low level chars. Most people find rares on their main char that they can not use. So they create a class that can use them and give them the weapons. They also usually give high level mags so that they can use high level equipment. It makes it easier and quicker to level up new characters.
EDIT: HAHAHA. You beat me to it. When I was writing mine you must have replied. Oh well.  
EDIT: Changed name of quest needed to convert weapons. Some say you have to complete them in a certain order but I don't think you do. If you see him next to the warp, he wears orange and a stupid hat like all FOnewman, just talk to him with a body part in your inventory.

Anyway,I started an Oran character,just wanted to know,is Bloody Art a dagger?Is it good?
And,I was thinking,Coudn't we combine an S-rank Sword with a Parasitic Gene Flow?(I'm almost sure it woudn't work,but,the world may never know.)
EDIT:Montague shows up just like when a FOnewm appears in the character creation screen.

Bloody art if a dagger. And I don't think you can add a Gene Flow to a S-Rank. Very little combines with a S-Rank.

I tried what you said when trying to change the Boomas Right Arm, but it all seems very strange?!
I entered the quest Dr. Ostos Research, and when i found Montague, i went up to him and all he kept saying was something about making something for the girl!
Anyways, i decided to do the quest instead, and when i did that, all was the same, so i went and did all the other quests relating to osto and montague, and although he said at the end of one quest that he'd make a weapon for me one day, there was nothing at all about transforming the arm into a weapon. Are there like any other quests relating to him i can find at another time, or find him standing around somewhere else on pioneer 2, or is it just me being a dumbass?!

I'm sorry. I will have a look on my game in a bit and see which quest it was. I know what quest you are on about because I had that as well. Check back in a bit when I have had a look.
EDIT: Well, it is Dr. Osto's Research. Are you sure you have the material on you in your inventory?

Yep, i definately had the item in my inventory on me when i spoke to him. All he kept saying was where is elanor, im making something for her, etc etc. Did it have 2 b on a certain difficulty level or anything maybe? Because i dont think i can do it again now ive done the quest, unless i do it on hard, very hard, or possibly ultimate (When ive unlocked it!!).

-Play Doctor Osto's Research (or Unsealed Door)
That is what it says. I would recommend doing this on a different difficulty now... just in case you can't redo it. It shouldn't matter too much, you will be getting EXP all the time.
