No you don't need to pay for Story mode and Extra mode but to get extra mode you have to get to a certian point in the story and everything you can do in extra is affected by the story.

I heard you always have to be, at the very least, connected to the internet in order to play the game at all though. It's supposed to be some kind of foolish safeguard Sega made to prevent people from starting cheat devices before starting the game... I just know it'll never work the way they wanted...

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. You have to be connected to the internet for the safeguard to start and for you get to get the patchs on the gameguard thing when sega realeses them.

It's probably the dumbest idea for hack protection I've ever heard of. People aren't going to be too fond of not even being able to play the game without the internet when it comes to the PC vesion.

And the cheat protection doesnt work, people get by it all the time.

The main problem with that is that now that our Story Mode characters and Online Mode characters are no longer the same, offline cheating isn't as big of a deal

That's what I was talking about. After all... PC version is the only one really all that capable of loading a cheating program before launching the game... or at least... it's a lot easier.

well i don't think it'd be possible to implement it into the xbox360 version.

Oh they could, since the X-Box runs Windows at its core anyways... there's just little to no point in bothering.
