Depression management
#1
going along with the theme of the anger management thread i wonder how people deal with another so called negative emotion namely depression. I personlly try to ignore or repress it ((anyone noticing a trend with me ? Tongue )) i personally find it to be counterproductive at best as it never leads to any action to end said depression. So how do the rest of you deal with it? I'm curious to say the least......
p.s. i notice on a lot of threads we will test the surfaces of the water but never fully immerse ourselves id like to see some deep and meaningful posts within this thread seeing as depression is so common these days if people are afraid of being the first to bear their soul merely post your wish for me to start and i shall.

It's best to fix whatever is causing the problem. Having a rant about it sometimes is good too. I feel better when doing that.
But one thing you should never do is bottle up the depression. I had a few experences of my own doing that.

I agree that letting depression build up by never acknowledging it is a very bad idea. I did that for two years and the result came out about a month ago. When I got so worked up and emotional that I collapsed into tears and couldn't even breathe.(Yes, I'm a guy and I cried...) But I'm okay now, you just have to remember that even though the bad things in life hurt, you have to acknowledge and cope with them so that they don't turn into lingering feelings of regret and sadness. So there's my guts and I hope the best for anyone struggling with depression, for it's not an easy thing to deal with but you must prevail none the less.

hmmm, depression? I guess I kinda do feel it, I get sad and down like everyone else though I don't admit it. I just find something fun to do and forget about it, it comes back but I just find something else to do and it eventually goes away ^_^.

I agree. Should not let it build. I'll play PSO or go on this site, or find someone to discuss e.g. funny things that others have done and laugh. They say laughter is the best medicine.
Then I eventually realise that there's nothing to be depressed about, really. Very slow method, but it works well and keeps me ... less insane.

I usually try and talk to some people about my depression. One of my closest friends actually helped me out a few days ago. Shes a really great friend of mine and she always helps me with my problems. and if I don't talk to anyone about it, I'll either play Halo 2 to take out my frustration on grunts/elites, or I'll bottle it up (bad habit of it).
