Yas9k... heh. The same thing happened to me on my Red Mech hunts. Funny thing about this is... you only tend to find the rares when you aren't thinking about it. I was just standing there hacking away at this one Del-D, and there it was... and suddenly I'm like, "oh right, THAT'S what I was doing this quest for... kickass!" XD
EDIT: A.S., didn't see that last post, sorry. I didn't find the Spread Needle myself, I traded for it online (to HUchamp, who unfortunately corrupted shortly after). You mentioned Seek My Master runs, are those actually a good idea in terms of seeing Merlans? I know there aren't too many potentially dangerous enemies in that quest (to NPCs, I mean... my RAmar can handle 'em with the Frozen Shooter, but my HUmar won't have such an easy time).
