I think that the fact this game is so complex makes it a lot more interesting too.
Just look at the first 2 screens of a new character file. First you get to pick between 3 groups of characters, then of 4 specific ones, each of diffent genders and races. Then from there you get to pick the size, costume, hair, face, skin color, name (it's a little diffent for androids though). Just by picking your character and name you have decided what weapons you can get, what mags you can raise, what stats you will have, what items you can use,.....
Those first 2 screens that we played,.... back when we were newbies, they were the 2 most important parts of the whole game,..... and we had no clue what was going on. Luckily, that's what 2nd, 3rd and even more characters are for.
