Like I said, there is a possibility that someone dropped the item. Like this one time I found a Sealed J-Sword in Normal Forest.

Actually a hacker, barubary, confirmed that the Sealed J-Sword CAN be unsealed. But one of the hacked versions cannot be unsealed. Your friend was using a hacked sealed without an enemy counter. According to barubary legitimate (or properly hacked) j-swords have a kill counter.
